Volunteer Information
Definition - Volunteerism: - is the willingness of people to work on behalf of others without being motivated by financial gain.
We do have a few folks that are "true volunteers" that offer a couple of hours of their time every year without compensation of any type and we appreciate them very much.
Comments from those who have volunteered say what an opportunity it is to meet folks they might not have otherwise; and also get a personal satisfaction of being part of the event!
However running a 3-day event (that has actually stretched into 4), requires more folks than a few. So in order to encourage others to "volunteer" we have a rebate coupon system for hours worked.
All time slots will be in 2 hour increments. After a person has worked their shift the Board Member in charge of that area will give you a coupon. That coupon will have to be presented to the Admin Director before 10am on that Sunday to be redeemed.
Coupons will have a rebate value of $10. The redeemer will have the choice of receiving cash rebate or putting that voucher into a drawing for a full paid registration for next year’s GLLA. This will be drawn for at the brunch. The maximum rebate vouchers one person can accumulate is 3 for a total for 6 hours worked. So if you paid the early bird registration of $79; and worked 3 shifts, then you actually only paid $49 for registration.
You must first register for this year’s event. Once you receive your confirmation number you will be able to go back into your account and click on the volunteer link to sign up and select choices.
